Luxury Interior Designer Available for New York City Projects
New York City is a place where design ambition meets spatial ingenuity — where a Park Avenue residence demands the same material integrity and creative rigor as a museum installation, and where a West Village brownstone must honor two centuries of architectural history while serving entirely contemporary lives. The expectations are exacting, the context is singular, and the margin for mediocrity is nonexistent.
Does Emerald & Oak have an office in New York City?
Our studio is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and we travel to New York for all critical project milestones. Our deliberately limited project load allows us to dedicate the time and attention that every commission deserves, regardless of location.
How does the design process work for out-of-state clients?
Our process is identical for every client. We begin with an in-person consultation, followed by a comprehensive design development phase. We travel for site assessments, material presentations, and installation oversight. Between visits, we maintain close communication through detailed presentations and regular progress updates.
What types of New York projects does Emerald & Oak accept?
We welcome full-service residential commissions — including apartment renovations, brownstone restorations, new-construction condominiums, and pied-à-terre interiors. We do not accept commercial or hospitality projects.
How do you handle co-op board approval processes?
We prepare comprehensive alteration applications including detailed scope descriptions, architectural drawings, contractor documentation, and insurance certificates. Our specification packages are designed to satisfy the most rigorous board review processes, and we coordinate with building management throughout the approval and construction phases.
Can you work with my existing New York architect or contractor?
Absolutely — and we prefer it. Local architects and contractors bring invaluable knowledge of New York's building codes, construction practices, and vendor networks. We integrate seamlessly with existing project teams, contributing interior design expertise while respecting the established working relationships.
