Custom Home Interior Design
Building a custom home is one of the most significant investments a family will make. At Emerald & Oak, we believe the interior design process should begin not after the walls go up, but alongside the earliest architectural decisions — when spatial flow, natural light, ceiling heights, and room proportions are still fluid.
When should I hire an interior designer for a custom home?
Ideally, before your floor plans are finalized. We can provide the most value when spatial layouts, ceiling heights, window placements, and mechanical systems are still flexible. Many of our most successful projects begin during the schematic design phase, allowing us to collaborate with your architect on room proportions and flow before construction documents are completed.
How much does custom home interior design cost?
Our custom home engagements are priced based on scope and complexity. We provide a detailed proposal after an initial discovery conversation. Investment varies significantly based on the home's size, level of custom detailing, and furnishings budget, but our process begins with a minimum commitment of 30 consultation hours.
Do you work with my architect and builder?
Absolutely — collaboration is central to our approach. We work alongside your existing team, attending construction meetings, reviewing drawings, and coordinating with trades. We also maintain relationships with Charlotte's premier architects and builders and can provide recommendations if you are still assembling your project team.
What is included in full-service custom home design?
Everything from spatial planning and finish selections to furnishings procurement, art curation, and final installation styling. We manage every interior detail so that your home is move-in ready and perfectly appointed on delivery day.
