Design in Good Company

Emerald & Oak Design is my interior design studio. I design interiors — spatial planning, millwork, materials, lighting and furnishings. I don't build houses, sell real estate or install technology. On many projects I work alongside people who do, and several of them share my family name. This page explains who they are, so you always know which business does what.

Building a home

When a family commissions a custom home, the interior decisions start with the drawings. I'm often working with Peters Custom Homes, a Charlotte custom home builder. Their construction work is contracted directly with them. For homes a builder starts before a buyer is involved, Peters Signature Homes is a separate spec home builder; its website is not currently published, so I haven't linked it.

Technology, lighting and sound

Speakers, keypads, shades and lighting control need to be planned with the millwork, not after it. Peters Audio Video is a home audio, video and technology company I coordinate with on that layer. They design and install those systems under their own agreement.

Buying or selling a home

Real estate representation is provided by Peters & Associates, Inc. — you'll find its luxury property website and The Peters Team site. Both are the same brokerage, not two separate firms. I'm sometimes asked to walk a house before purchase to talk about its design potential; that is design advice, not brokerage.

Where inspiration comes from

Much of what I bring home — a stone I first saw in a hotel lobby, a plaster finish from a village church — comes from travel. Peters Signature is Nicholas's and my personal travel journal. It's a place for experiences and inspiration only; it doesn't book travel or offer design services.

Architects, builders and trades beyond my family are listed in the Partner Showcase. If you'd like to talk about interior design, start here. For construction, technology or real estate, please contact that business directly through its own website.

SEPARATE BUSINESSES

Emerald & Oak Design provides interior design services. Other businesses and publications mentioned here may share principals or collaborate on projects, but services offered by a separate business are provided under that business's own applicable agreement. A website link or introduction does not add that business to an Emerald & Oak Design engagement or make Emerald & Oak Design a party to its separate agreement.
