Luxury Interior Design Portfolio

More than 50 new-construction design projects. Only a small handful are shown here. Miriam Peters has been involved in more than 50 new-construction design projects — a depth of building experience that is rare in residential interior design. Each project lists her exact role, from complete new-construction design to cabinetry and selection design.

A considered selection from a much broader body of work.

Emerald & Oak Design averages more than 10 residential projects each year, with a focus on homes valued at $3 million and above. This portfolio presents selected interiors from that work.

We do not publish every home we design. Our public collection is intentionally selective, and the number of projects shown here does not reflect the full scope of our experience.

These residences offer an introduction to our approach: thoughtful planning, distinctive materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and interiors shaped around the people who call them home.

Luxury Understood From Within

Exceptional residential design begins with understanding how exceptional homes are lived in.

For Miriam Peters, that understanding is personal. Raised in the construction world, she brings a lifelong familiarity with the relationship between architecture, craftsmanship, and interiors. Her husband, Nicholas Peters, is the founder of Peters Custom Homes, making the creation of extraordinary residences part of both her professional and family life.

Her perspective extends around the world. International travel and product discovery continually inform her eye for materials, furnishings, atmosphere, and service. Through Peters Signature Travel, Miriam and Nicholas also share their interest in exceptional destinations and hospitality.

That experience gives her a rich foundation for understanding clients with exacting expectations and distinctly individual tastes.

An Exceptional Standard. A Personal Point of View.

Miriam and the Emerald & Oak team approach each commission with an uncompromising commitment to quality and an attentive understanding of the client.

A remarkable home should feel natural to its owner. Every selection contributes to that outcome, from architectural finishes and custom cabinetry to lighting, furnishings, and the final details that make a room feel complete.

Our work is guided by the way you want to live, the things you value, and the standard you expect.

Carmel Road

Highland Forest

A Charlotte whole-home design project, from architectural concept through final styling.

Kings Manor

A Matthews interior design project, connected by pale stone, warm wood tones and considered furnishings.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

Sunset Beach

A coastal interior design project pairing pale textiles, woven textures and blue-green accents.

There is a meaningful difference between selecting materials and living with them — between approving a finish on a sample board and knowing how it performs after two years of sunlight, four seasons, and the rituals of daily life.

Every material I specify, every product I source, and every spatial decision I make is informed by firsthand experience. Performance, longevity, and feel matter as much as aesthetics. I do not recommend what I have not lived with.

This is not simply a design studio. It is a lived authority in luxury environments — and the portfolio you see here is the proof.
