Luxury Interior Design in Charlotte, NC – South Charlotte Estate
South Charlotte's established neighborhoods — including areas surrounding Rea Road, Providence Road, and the Ballantyne corridor — offer mature settings, excellent schools, and the kind of quiet residential character that attracts Charlotte's most discerning families. This new construction estate represents a significant investment in a South Charlotte homesite, justified by the caliber of construction and interior design that Emerald & Oak and Peters Custom Homes delivered.
The homeowners prioritized creating a home that would feel appropriate in its traditional neighborhood while reflecting their contemporary lifestyle — a design challenge that Emerald & Oak navigates with particular confidence.
Project Overview
This 5,200-square-foot South Charlotte estate features four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a home office, a bonus room, and a covered rear porch. Emerald & Oak provided comprehensive interior design services from pre-construction through furnishing, working alongside Peters Custom Homes to ensure seamless coordination between architectural vision and interior execution.
Design Approach: Classic South Charlotte
The interior design reflects the understated luxury that defines South Charlotte's most admired homes — quality materials, precise craftsmanship, and design restraint. Crown moldings are present but simplified. The color palette is warm and neutral. Furniture combines traditional silhouettes with contemporary fabrics. The overall effect is a home that feels both timeless and current — comfortable for daily family life and gracious for entertaining.
Custom Cabinetry & Millwork
Custom cabinetry spans the kitchen, butler's pantry, mudroom, home office, four bathrooms, and the primary closet. The kitchen features a transitional design with painted perimeter cabinetry and a stained island, brass hardware, and a custom range hood with decorative corbels. The home office includes built-in bookshelves and a desk designed to accommodate the homeowner's specific work equipment.

Materials & Finishes
Main-level flooring is site-finished white oak in a warm medium-tone stain. Kitchen countertops are Taj Mahal quartzite, valued for its marble-like appearance and superior durability. The primary bathroom features Calacatta marble on the vanity and shower walls, with heated marble tile floors. All hardware throughout the home is brushed brass, providing warmth and visual consistency.
Outdoor Living
The covered rear porch spans 400 square feet and includes a stone fireplace, ceiling fans, and an outdoor dining area. Emerald & Oak furnished the porch with weather-rated seating and dining furniture in teak and performance fabric, creating an outdoor room that the family uses from spring through late fall. Landscape lighting designed in coordination with Peters Audio Video extends the outdoor experience into evening hours.
