Luxury Interior Design in Charlotte, NC – Waxhaw Kitchen & Bath Renovation
Waxhaw's luxury residential corridor has attracted families seeking the combination of historic small-town charm, excellent Union County schools, and proximity to Charlotte's commercial centers. This kitchen and bathroom remodel demonstrates that luxury interior design is available to Waxhaw homeowners at the same quality level as Charlotte's established in-town neighborhoods.
The homeowners sought a renovation that would bring their kitchen and primary bathroom to the standard they experienced in newer luxury homes — without the disruption and expense of selling and relocating. Emerald & Oak delivered a transformation that exceeded those expectations.
Project Overview
This Waxhaw renovation included a complete kitchen remodel with structural modifications, a primary bathroom transformation, and a guest bathroom update. The kitchen scope included wall removal to create an open connection to the living area, new custom cabinetry, stone countertops, professional-grade appliances, and a redesigned lighting plan. Both bathrooms received new custom vanities, tile, fixtures, and lighting.
Design Approach
The design creates a bridge between the home's existing architectural character and the contemporary luxury finishes the homeowners desired. Rather than imposing a completely new aesthetic, Emerald & Oak developed a material palette that elevates the existing framework — introducing warmth through wood-toned cabinetry, sophistication through natural stone, and modernity through clean-lined fixtures and hardware.
Custom Cabinetry & Millwork
The kitchen features painted cabinetry in a soft sage with a contrasting walnut island — a combination that adds depth and visual interest. Full-extension soft-close drawers, pull-out pantry organizers, and a dedicated coffee station reflect the family's specific daily routines. The primary bathroom vanity is a custom piece in walnut with integrated towel storage and a marble countertop.

Materials & Finishes
Kitchen countertops are honed Calacatta quartzite — offering marble aesthetics with enhanced durability. The backsplash features handmade ceramic tile in a warm white glaze. Bathroom floors combine large-format marble tiles with heated radiant systems. All fixtures are in a brushed gold finish that adds warmth without the maintenance demands of unlacquered brass.
Spatial Redesign
The most impactful change was the removal of a wall between the kitchen and living room — a structural modification that transformed both rooms and created the open-concept flow that modern family life demands. Emerald & Oak designed the opening with a structural beam clad in walnut to match the island, turning the structural element into a design feature.
