The Art of Living in Charlotte

How a family actually lives — where mornings begin, where guests gather, where the house works hardest — should drive every design decision. These essays explore the rituals of Charlotte living and the interiors that support them.

Written from years of listening to how our clients use their homes, long before we draw a single room.

Designing around daily routines

A floor plan works when it follows the way a household actually moves through the day — where coats and bags land, where breakfast happens, where guests gather and where someone can work in quiet. Mapping those routines before choosing finishes keeps a home practical as well as beautiful.

Charlotte's warm, humid summers and mild winters also matter: shaded outdoor rooms, durable performance fabrics and good airflow make a house comfortable through every season.

  • Entry and drop zones for busy mornings.
  • Kitchens and family rooms that work for everyday meals and for entertaining.
  • Quiet places for work, reading and rest.
  • Covered outdoor living that extends the season.
