Interior Design for Piper Glen

Piper Glen surrounds the TPC Piper Glen course with large traditional and transitional estates, many built in the 1990s and early 2000s. These homes were generously proportioned from the start: two-story great rooms, formal dining, expansive primary suites, and rear elevations built to capture the fairway. What they often need now is a material and lighting update that brings them into the present without diminishing their scale. Led by Charlotte interior designer Miriam Peters.

We approach Piper Glen homes with respect for that scale. Oversized rooms demand furniture plans that create intimacy, window treatments that manage western light without blocking the view, and finishes substantial enough to hold their own against high ceilings.

About Piper Glen

Piper Glen is a gated golf community in south Charlotte near Rea Road and Interstate 485, adjacent to Ballantyne. It was developed around the TPC Piper Glen golf course, part of the PGA Tour's Tournament Players Club network, beginning in the late 1980s. The community includes a mix of single-family homes and townhomes, many overlooking the golf course, and it has its own homeowner association and architectural guidelines. Nearby Stonecrest and Ballantyne provide shopping and dining.

Estate Renovation & Refresh

Typical Piper Glen scopes include replacing heavy early-2000s millwork with cleaner profiles, refinishing or replacing floors throughout, opening kitchens to keeping rooms, and rebuilding primary baths with contemporary stone, freestanding tubs, and frameless glass. We also address the two-story great room — often the hardest space in these homes — with lighting, textiles, and scale corrections that make it genuinely usable.

  • Two-story great room scale and acoustics
  • Millwork profile modernization
  • Kitchen and keeping room integration
  • Primary bath rebuilds
  • Window treatment programs for fairway-facing glass

Entertaining & Outdoor Connection

Piper Glen homeowners entertain. We plan bars, butler's pantries, wine storage, and covered outdoor rooms that extend the interior palette to the terrace, so a golf-course view becomes part of the design rather than something the interior competes with.

Working Within an HOA

Gated communities bring architectural review requirements, contractor access rules, and delivery windows. We manage those logistics — submittals, approvals, and scheduling — so the project moves without friction with the association.

Designing a Piper Glen Home on the Course

Piper Glen was built around the TPC Piper Glen golf course from the late 1980s onward, and many of its single-family homes and townhomes overlook the fairways. That view is the organizing idea for most interiors here: main rooms are arranged to face the course, window treatments are chosen to manage afternoon sun without blocking it, and outdoor living spaces become an extension of the living room. The community's homeowner association and architectural guidelines govern exterior changes, so interior updates are often where owners have the most freedom. Homes from the first phases are now at the age where kitchens, baths and finishes are ready for renewal, and the work typically involves opening kitchens to living spaces, replacing dated trim and lighting, and bringing in finishes with more warmth. Townhome owners tend to want low-maintenance, lock-and-leave interiors that still feel personal and finished.

  • Rooms oriented to fairway views
  • Sun control for course-facing glass
  • Renewing late-1980s and 1990s finishes
  • Lock-and-leave townhome interiors

Frequently asked questions

Do you have experience with gated communities like Piper Glen?
Yes. We routinely coordinate architectural review submittals, gate access for trades, and delivery scheduling with community management so installation days run cleanly.
Can you update a 1990s Piper Glen estate without a full gut renovation?
Often, yes. Floors, lighting, millwork profiles, paint, and furnishings can transform these homes dramatically while leaving the structure and plumbing locations intact — a considerably shorter and less disruptive project.
How long does a Piper Glen whole-home project take?
A furnishing-led refresh typically runs four to seven months. A whole-home renovation involving kitchen, baths, and millwork generally runs eight to fourteen months from design kickoff.
