Interior Design for Quail Hollow
Quail Hollow sits between Park Road and Carmel Road in south Charlotte, built largely from the 1960s onward around the club and its wooded fairways. The housing stock is unusually varied for a single neighborhood: brick traditional and Colonial Revival houses from the neighborhood's first decades, substantial 1990s and 2000s builds, and a steady stream of teardown-and-rebuild projects on the deepest lots. Each generation of house asks a different question of a designer. Led by Charlotte interior designer Miriam Peters.
Our work here divides roughly between two briefs. The first is the renovation of an older house with sound bones but compartmentalized rooms, low kitchen ceilings, and finishes that have aged out — a project of reworking circulation, rebuilding millwork, and re-specifying every surface. The second is new construction on a rebuilt lot, where we join the architect and builder well before framing to plan proportion, storage, lighting, and material sequence room by room.

A full-service commission here covers space planning, architectural detailing, every specified finish, custom cabinetry and millwork drawings, lighting design, plumbing and hardware selection, furniture and textile specification, art and accessory curation, procurement, and installation. We manage the trade side of that list directly so decisions arrive at the builder as complete documents rather than a series of questions.

New Construction on Rebuilt Quail Hollow Lots
On new builds we work alongside the architect during plan review, before permits, when adjustments cost nothing. Typical items: right-sizing the primary suite against the closet and bath, confirming ceiling heights and beam locations against furniture scale, planning the scullery or prep kitchen so the main kitchen stays uncluttered, setting window heights against planned furniture backs, and locating electrical for lighting that is designed rather than defaulted. Selections are then documented in a single specification package the builder's subcontractors can execute from.
Whole-Home Renovation of Older Quail Hollow Houses
Renovations of the neighborhood's earlier houses usually begin at the kitchen and open outward. Removing a wall between kitchen and den changes the light, the acoustics, and the furniture plan of both rooms, so we plan the whole floor before drawing a single cabinet. Common scope includes rebuilt kitchens with inset cabinetry and natural stone, primary bath reconfiguration, new millwork in the entry and stair, refinished or replaced flooring for continuity, and a repaint and hardware program that unifies old and new construction.
Furnishings, Art, and Installation
Most Quail Hollow homes we furnish are entertained in — large dining tables, deep seating, durable performance textiles, and lighting that dims for evening. We source from trade-only workrooms and manufacturers, hold goods in receiving, inspect them before delivery, and install in a single coordinated placement rather than piecemeal deliveries over months.
Working With Your Architect and Builder
We are comfortable joining a team that is already assembled, and we are equally comfortable being the first professional engaged. Either way our role with the architect is proportion, storage, and interior architecture; with the builder it is complete, buildable specifications delivered on the schedule construction actually needs. Homeowners keep final authority on every decision.
